Zero interest in watching films?
Discussion
Am I alone in never watching films?, out of all my family / relatives / friends, none of them that I have asked said they didn't watch films,
anyone here that doesn't?. I will watch documentaries, Wildlife programmes and various other stuff provided it isn't fiction, but watching
actors has no interest to me at all, I can't sit still for that length of time either, and it seems like a lot of wasted hours when I could
be doing something constructive instead.
Have to say I have had some raised eyebrows and funny looks from folk over the years when they say something like "oh remember that
bit in (insert major blockbuster here)" and I say no I haven't seen it, I dont watch films.

I have been the same most of my life. So clueless in quizzes on anything about actors and films. Never seen films like ET etc that everyone seems to have seen. No idea what a ground hog day is or who forest gump is other than they are the names of films.
Once I knew the general story (a ten second synopsis would do) I didn't want to waste the time watching a film. That said I had my own business for a long time working 7 days a week long days etc so time was precious and a film was a waste of that time.
Now I have more time I will watch a film and have slowly started to catch up on some classics from the last few decades.
For me it was simply about best use of what free time I had and restlessness devoting 2 hours to a film.

I can't stand them and I haven't got a TV. I tried watching them when I was a kid and I could never really understand why all the grown ups found them so fascinating. Why would anyone want to watch a load of melodramatic rich people pretending to be people they're not with all the shouting, arguing, fighting, misery and virtually no story?

And the award ceremonies, now that's a whole new level of 'I cant stand them'.
Have to admit though I have seen two, The Birds, only because I am a lifelong birder and I was curious to see what
nonsense it contained, lots is the answer!.
And Crossroads, but only really to watch the guitar duel with the legendary Steve Vai. That's it.
It’s anything fiction for me - why spend time reading or watching the fantasy of others - I just don’t get it. But then again I’ll watch documentaries or a film that’s an interpretation of stuff that interests me if I stumble across them e.g. the pilot who landed the plane in the river, Senna or Rush etc. but very rarely do I make any specific effort to see things.
My bird is bang into her films and a little Netflix sorjourn is a 'thing' from time to time.
She chews me out about not catching details in rather mundane films she has seen multiple times before.
To the point that I told her to stick the films and I see it as one step up from sitting on ones hands on the 'Time well spent' scale...

I'm not a massive film advocate. I've probably seen more half films than full ones; either lose interest or fall asleep.
I always get ridiculed when I admit I've not seen some of the classics - Batman, Star Wars, Harry Potter to name a few.
Although I do want to watch The Godfather.
Still yet to find out what happens to the Titanic.

Think my inner rebel prevents me from being a sheep when it comes to films and big tv series’.
I’ve never seen any of the seemingly wondrous millions of Lord of the Rings or anything beyond the original StarWars and Empire Strikes Back and have only just worked through the Marvel type stuff but God knows if we did it in the right order! As for the ridiculous noise surrounding 24, Lost and something about finding who H is, I just find it bewildering that people can get so immersed that I’m considered strange for not knowing anything about it.

No, I like the idea of a complete story in 2 hours.
It's Box Sets I have trouble with.
I'll be f
ked if I can spare [or waste] the time to watch 100 eps of The Sopranos,
Breaking Bad, Zombie b
ks or Psycho/Fargo homages.
I'm with you on that one, I like to see a story told, whereas the American series just go on forever like a soap opera, thinning out the ideas to extract the maximum number of episodes. It's Box Sets I have trouble with.
