Discovery Channel leaving BT TV
Discussion
I just got an email saying that Discovery Channel is leaving BT TV at the end of the month.
Is discovery going subscription only, or are any of the other package operators carrying the channels?
I'm already paying for BT, Netflix and Prime, don't fancy paying any more subscriptions.
BT have offered to let customers leave without an exit fee, so Sky is a possibilty

There is a comment at the top re SKY
I believe in the USA they have just merged with Warner Bros I think so they will probably end up having one platform with HBOMAX but we don't get HBOMAX in the UK.

HBO is licensed to Sky until 2025, then we will get it ... https://www.discoveryplus.co.uk/myaccount/products

Thanks. Link doesn't work for me - I just get a blank page - so I can't see what it says about Sky.
I've gone direct to the Discovery UK website, and can't see anything about other platforms.
I did find a list of "supported devices" - my Samsung TV is too old, and it doesn't work with Roku devices, so I couldn't watch it even if I wanted to pay the fiver a month. No way I'm going to watch TV on a mobile device or computer.
I'm getting a bit fed up with the proliferation of different subscription services now. Stuff disappears from Netflix (all Marvel content gone to Disney), BT TV keep chopping and changing their channels, nothing worth watching on the BBC except the news.

Indeed. It's getting to the stage where you have to accept you won't be able to watch everything that comes along, just pick one platform to subscribe to and then hope there's enough on there plus the 'free' channels and YouTube to keep you entertained. It takes you to this page

Basically if you stump up for SKY Q you can get Discovery.
Appears to be free for 12 months to those who have a sky subscription.

Discovery + is awful. Through sky, the app is really slow, laggy and feel 5 years out of date.
The content is very limited, I wouldn’t pay anything for it. however, it appears all the niche reality crap my wife watches is now exclusive to this platform... no doubt when the 12 months free trial is up I will be badgered into adding it.
