Yes, very good and great animation. The strength was a bit OTT though.
Maybe not. The starting point on this timeline was Agent Carter, who was a normal sized, perhaps stronger than average, adult women. Whereas in the original timeline the super soldier process was applied to a small, physically weak Steve Rodgers.Radec said:
I think you do need to have seen all the original films though to appreciate it to the fullest.
A lot of the scenes are re-enacted from the film's with the new character and if you haven't seen them then it probably won't have the same effect.
Yep. It’s very much for dedicated fans who know the films well (which is fine with me). A lot of the scenes are re-enacted from the film's with the new character and if you haven't seen them then it probably won't have the same effect.
I only watched one episode of ‘Bad Batch’ because I’m not enough of a Star Wars geek. However I do love the MCU, so really enjoyed the shot-for-shot remakes of some scenes.
As a kid I read a few What If comics in the ‘70s and early ‘80s. This first episode felt very true to the comics. A short retelling of a familiar story, with the outcome often similar to the original.

The source comics often ended in a dark way. The stories were unpredictable and varied wildly in quality. The first episode was tepid. They effectively told the same story putting a woman’s head on a mans body- like Taskmaster in Black Widow.
I hope the other episodes go darker and are bold enough to tell a different story.
The Marvel Zombies were dark indeed. They are shown as being in this I’m curious to see how they are handled.

The whole Zombies thing was long after I stopped reading the comics regularly, and I’ve never looked into how and why . I guess zombies were flavour of the month so they did a “What if there was a zombie outbreak “, and then it caught on and became its own alternate universe.
As for What If being darker, I think everything in superhero comics became dark and gritty in the ‘90s. I reckon that was a fad. Some characters should be dark, such as Punisher, but not all.

In what way?
The super soldier serum never gave Steve super strength, it made him the peak of human physical achievement and this was often mentioned in the comics. In the films he was obviously stronger than that, but not OTT, however Peggy was playing around with trucks and tanks, at least Thor like, maybe heading towards Hulk. SlimJim16v said:

Agree with SlimJim16v that Peggy was showing proper super strength. I'd guess Spiderman level.

Hink you need to re watch the movies, I recall one scene where he grabs the skid of a helicopter and stops it flying away, first of all he isn't holding anything so must have super weight as well as super strength! there are plenty more examples
Yes, I remember that, I thought WTF. I can't remember anything else standing out as much. SpudLink said:

I don't think the second episode was a patch on the first. Big variation in quality between stories is about right for What If.
Odd isn't it, we (me and my 11 year old) thought that the 2nd was miles better than the first. The First was essentially a remake of the 1st Avenger the second one was a totally new story with real twists on the timeline we know. Both these episodes effectively show things working out just the same or better in the What Of universe. It’s a bit dull. Zombies were introduced by Mark Millar ( who went on to create Kick-Ass and now has his own Netflix deal) in Ultimate Fantastic 4 ( I think- without checking Google) the premise was they were an alternate version of the FF who contracted a deadly virus that made them need to bite others to transmit it. They retained their powers and were dark versions of themselves. The spin off books were a good read at the time as well. I recall Black Panther being kept in a deep freeze so they could eat him a piece at a time!
Won’t be seeing that in the cartoon!
