I’ve recently realised this to be my favourite genre. looking for recommendations similar to:

TV:
-Homeland - One of my all time favourite programs
-Spy - Netflix solo series with Sacha Baron Cohen, superb
-Tehran - One of the few gems on Apple TV - few episodes in and loving it so far
-The Americans - Little bit cheesier but enjoyed it
-Alex rider /killing eve / Hannah - Not quite the same but enjoyed none the less

Films:
-The operative - Bit of a weak ending but liked the concept.

Can’t think of any other recent films .

Have most of the streaming platforms!

There’s a British series of spy films, I can’t remember their names but I think Daniel Craig’s been in some.

They’re apparently quite good.

Bridge of spies?
Tom Hanks and Mark Rylance
Cold War spy thriller-I loved it
True story aswell-although no doubt the truth is bent in true Hollywood style.

TV mini series ‘The Game’ from 2014 - great feel to it and good cast. Not so hot if you’re after car chases and furious gunfights, but it does have grittier bits.

Body of Lies fillum still bears watching, great spy thriller.

Films:

For the Harry Palmer trilogy, The Billion Dollar Brain (though I think it’s the weakest of the three).

The Human Factor is not bad, though feels rather dated these days.

A Most Wanted Man isn’t bad - albeit odd casting of Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Argo - rightly won its awards. Excellent.

North by North West - Cary Grant classic..!

M.Butterfly - though very Cronenburg/Irons..! (I shan’t spoil this one..!)

TV:

Prisoners of War/Hatufim is good - it’s the Israeli original that Homeland was Americanised from.

There is a lovely British spy triple set with Bill Nighy as the lead character which are worth a watch, Spy Game with Redford and Pitt is a very good film as well.

To those I'd add :

A Dandy In Aspic
The Quiller Memorandum
The Baader Meinhoff Complex (more a terrorists genre but it all fits in with the cold war period and is very, very good)
The Day Of The Jackal
The Black Windmill
