Took my daughter to the cinema for this earlier, despite my own reservations about it. Starts well, gradually goes downhill finishes with ANOTHER tedious CGI fest. Lead actor is total timber. Marvel need to do better than this. It’s better than the awful Black Widow but it feels like they aren’t trying anymore. Oh, and it’s free to watch on Disney Plus (if you have relevant subscription) from middle of next month.

Marvel should have used Iron Fist instead and done that properly. My advice, watch at home.

I really enjoyed infinity war/endgame
Civil War
Iron Man
Guardians 1
Ragnarok

I didn’t care for Black Panther at all. That had great reviews. Nor Captain Marvel nor the awful Black Widow. Nor this either as it happens. Let’s see how it fares…

My son and I went to see it on Saturday. He said he enjoyed it but I didn’t see much that hadn’t been done before, just this time with an Oriental twist.

The Ben Kingsley and friend stuff was terrible and Shang Chi’s partner was really annoying. We’ve seen all the modern Marvel films and in my opinion this one was far and away the worst.

We went to the 8pm showing in Lincoln. I reckon there were maybe 30 people in there tops. I don’t know what the average post-covid audience is, but this was pretty poor for a Saturday night in the first week of release. I found myself looking at the other patrons about half way through the film and there were a couple on their phones.

If I’d have known it was free on Disney+ next month, I’d have saved myself £30.

I enjoyed the 15 minute teaser/short for this currently on D+ (All hail the king)

Thanks for the heads up (though I'd probably not go the cinema for this one anyway tbh)

I saw it at the weekend. It wasn't their best film and it wasn't their worst either.

That said, it didn't hold a candle to the first Iron Man. Hopefully this can trigger & carry the next chapter in a similar way once the next few films are out and we can see what the easter eggs are, but it's a good job they didn't lead with it.

Still, it will probably sell well in China and if that gets cash in to fund other films then that's all to the good.

It was a solid outing. Much better than Black Widow.

I think it will take a while to get the new characters into a solid position. It took a few outings for Thor and Hulk etc.

The MCU output has really declined post Endgame. The films all still turn a profit but they are becoming really formulaic. The Eternals film looks tedious and I have no interest in seeing it at the cinema.

That's my feeling too. It's like they've used all the big hitters up and now we're getting the also-rans. Shang-Chi had a decent run in the comics back in the 70's on the back of the kung-fu craze (see also Iron Fist), but the Eternals never did much. Black Widow was a supporting character at best.
