The dumbing down of TV
Discussion
Been going on for decades...
As a species we are shuffling along towards oblivion with mouth breathers and criminal scum becoming the dominant breeders and therefore most likely to pass on the baton of moronic mediocrity to the next under educated generation.
Rinse and repeat for a few more generations and the trashy TV will be the least of your problems.

You appear to have absolutely no idea of our history. Wellington called his army Scum of the earth. As a species we are shuffling along towards oblivion with mouth breathers and criminal scum becoming the dominant breeders and therefore most likely to pass on the baton of moronic mediocrity to the next undereducated generation.
We are an earthy country who through the generations have managed against the odds to beat larger enemies even though we fight drink and f
k like wild animals given the chance. We are not and have never been some middle class nirvana.
So do not look down at the people you call moth breathers but accept them as brother countrymen who will be the ones who when the day comes climb out of their trenches and terrify their enemies with foul language and raw anger.
Or something like this.

It was Britain's favourite desert/pudding the other night - jeez what a load of tosh, couldn't watch that garbage and FF'ed it to No 1, then FF'ed again.

That’s partly because nobody is paying attention to this sort of show. It’s just background hum. Partly to pad for length. On commercial channels there’s an awful lot of stuff that’s 30 mins of content padded or to an hour.
And partly (I suspect) to enable the show to be resold/rerun on a different channel later with more advertising time - there’s something easy to cut to make the timings work.
The big problem is, most program makers respond to what people want from surveys, and their own ideas,].
If these things keep getting made, there is a reason, people watch it! People watch embarrassing bodies, gypo weddings, pathetic wannabes being awful, so they make more and more and more.
The main people who can control this content, is you the viewer, don't watch it, it will stop.
It really is that simple

There used to be a programme on the Food Network called "America's Greatest Sandwich", but I had to stop watching because it just made me hungry. I remember it made me think back to when I started buying sandwiches for lunch at work, where if you were lucky in the local sandwich shop / bakers you could get one with cheese and tomato on it. I suspect this version will be a bit less interesting.
