The imminent release of The Beatles Get Back documentary and a current promotion of £1.99 for your first month means I’m in the slightly odd position of being an adult in possession of a Disney + subscription.

For me two quid to watch the Beatles documentary is worth it so anything else is a bonus.

So is there anything else on Disney + worth checking out for adults?

I don’t expect anything gritty like my all time favourite series The Shield, but suggestions for anything unusual and interesting like Six Feet Under, Shtisel, Fauda, Black Mirror, For All Mankind would be welcome.

Otherwise I’ll just enjoy the Beatles and some National Geographic documentaries for the next few weeks…

30 years of Simpson’s episodes? I probably wouldn't have it if it wasn’t for the wife and kid.

Mandalorian is good if you like Star Wars (probably slow and boring if not)

Orville is a great series. Light comedy version of feel-good Star Trek days

I can pretty much take it or leave it personally but I did watch the whole Marvel films in order which was a good way to kill some days when I had Covid.

My wife is currently watching Greys Anatomy from start to end.

Kids seem to have forgotten about it now though so i'll probably cancel it on next renewal, I paid for 12 months

Marvel and Star Wars stuff is good and a whole lot more is coming in 2022 if you like that sort of stuff.

Head to the Star section as that's where all the adult stuff is like films and series.

Dopesick has just started with a great cast about America's opioid epidemic, not seen it yet but is getting good reviews.

With the integration of “star” a few months back there is a lot more adult content on there (which can be turned off on kids accounts”. All of “The Walking Dead” for example

Funnily enough I’ve just put that on my watchlist. Looks very interesting. Wonder if they’ll give those responsible “both barrels”…

Currently on a free trial of Apple TV and there’s not much on there apart from Ted Lasso and For All Mankind so this does seem to be an embarrassment of riches in comparison.

Counting down the days to Get Back which looks like it’s going to be phenomenal going by the trailers.

The Martian
Free Solo
Tron & Tron: Legacy - Especially Tron Legacy
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - I think all the rest of the films are there but I really like this spin off.

Firefly (scifi/western) is certainly worth a watch if that is your nosebag; Castle is an entertaining enough crime procedural; Next is intreguing, albeit slow; Y: The Last man seems to be getting reasonable reviews (remain to be convinced however); White Collar, I remember fondly; Deep State has potential; Lie to Me I enjoyed and there's also Burn Notice... and that's just the easy stuff!

As previously mentioned STAR seems to be the place where a lot more of the more mature stuff can be found

Thanks for all the recommendations - definitely plenty to be getting on with.

Just watched the first episode of Dopesick and it is looking extremely promising.

I assumed it was a documentary series about the US opioid crises but it’s a very deftly done drama…

Is that one of those words where the meaning has changed? It always used to mean something to do with eating, can't see how it could apply to watching a film.

I think Disney+ is quickly becoming my ‘go to’ over my Netflix and Amazon Prime subscriptions. There’s so much on there.

it's probably just a local variation which I've picked up meaning something that you enjoy/appreciate appeals to your taste

I've got Amazon, Netflix and Disney

I had high hopes when STAR was added but its been a disappointment

There is stuff to watch on there but Amazon and Netflix tend to be my go to

No harm in having it for a trial though.

I've just subscribed to Disney+ again but just to their £1.99 offer, might keep it for a 2nd month over Xmas and for Boba Fett, then cancel. It's something I can sub for a month and then leave it for a few months etc. Took it this time to watch the last series of Walking Dead.

Disney+ is ok. I bought a year last year sometime. Not sure I’d bother again.
