Anyone watching? Two episodes of four and enjoying very much. A dark tale, but told in a great style. Sets are very stripped back, almost like a stage play. Olivia Coleman as ever is wonderful.

I’ve just finished watching the first episode and it was so bad I immediately deleted the rest of the episodes from the Sky planner.

Was the director on drugs? The music during the scenes - st. The angry DCI character, played by someone who looks like he’s late teens - st. The fading to black & white then colour again - st. The neighbours - st actors.

The scene in the car heading to St Pancras about the long scotch eggs - st. The police cars all stickered up with black & white stripes - why? The quantity AND type of police waiting for them at St Pancras - why? The behind-the-scenes shots during the end credits - why?

Just an absolute mess.

I was disappointed to find this is only on Sky Atlantic.

It was very local to my Wife's village and would have watched just because we remembered the real event.

...........but if it's that bad perhaps a lucky escape!

It’s truly terrible. Good story told by great actors with a terrible screenwriter & director.

Couldn't make the end of Ep.1. Truly awful.

(Big fan of both leads, goodness knows why they did this).

One of my mates was directly involved in getting them back to the UK, but in reality it was nothing like the way it's played out on the programme.

Trying to watch it but struggling at the mo.....

Suspect that Olivia did it because it was written by her husband.
I’m actually quite enjoying it even though it is very silly. My wife however gave up after 20 mins.

Watched it to the end in the hope that it would improve but it didn’t - most of the last episode is extremely silly (can’t say more without it being a spoiler). The two lead actors are great but totally wasted in a truly awful production.

Funny how tastes differ, we thought it was excellent and really enjoyed it. I’m sure it bears only a passing resemblance to the truth, but we found it entertaining.

Same here. It's quirky but I think rather clever.

The story's told mainly from Susan Edward's (Coleman) perspective. She was obsessed with film and the old black and white Hollywood classics to the point of delusion that her life was in fact a film. This explains the odd transition of scenes into over-saturated black and white and scenes played on obvious sets - the premise being that this is how she herself would have seen those situations for real.

Not for everyone but I liked it!

Certainly divides opinion - seems it’s a love it or loath it thing. We really enjoyed its quirky presentation - really different from the usual procedural. But underneath a really tragic story all round.

Quote from my Mrs:
"If they got rid of all the arty farty crap they could have done it in two episodes".

I'm with oobster on most of this.
The swearing copper - like an unfunny comedy version of Gene Hunt, the weird acting of the couple.
Watched the first episode, might try the second with Wife but likely fall asleep

Watched episodes 2, 3 & 4 last night (slept through part of 2 but don't think I missed anything
God it was slow and the western scenes in 4 just bizarre.
Would be interested to know the real story behind these two.
