Surprised there was no thread on this already.
Martin Freeman plays a police officer (in a response role) in Liverpool - Chris Carson.
Carson is clearly struggling with post traumatic stress symptoms following a couple of decades in the police.
He's been busted down from DI to PC for reasons that the plot doesn't really go into but he's now working an inner city beat (on his own to begin with).
The series starts with him exploring some issues with a counsellor in a consultation.
He says he just wants to feel normal again but delves into what his job involves.
He's at breaking point, it seems.

Anyway, the plot thickens and I won't spoil it for you.
I found the first programme riveting from a psychological perspective and it does provide an insight into the nature of policing and the stresses involved.
Freeman is superb in the leading role.
If you can get past the heavy Scouse accents it's definitely worth a watch.
I binged the series. Highly recommended.
