Canal Boat Diaries BBC4 7pm Thursdays - is the host thick?

So my family had a 32foot cruiser boat on the canal for like 15 years, been all around the country in it, so when I saw the title of the show I was pondering what I might see in terms of places I may had already been too...

Anyway, first thing I find off with this guy in the show I entered midway through, was he has let a lock gate open and has found himself stuck in the middle of the canal between locks. Well DUH - if you and the last joker who went through the lock could be bothered to close it after you left it, the canal wouldn't be empty...

Second thing I find off with the guy is he is so disorganised with his mechanical gear he has to empty it out of the engine room before starting it and then put it back in after closing off for the day, why didn't he put it somewhere else?

The third thing is he has a bloody wifi device so he can stay connected with the real world - grooovy baby, errmm the whole point of taking such a holiday in the middle of nowhere was to GET AWAY from the the modern rat-race of life FFS..

Is the host thick?
