As a fan of the original series and film I don’t know how I feel about this…

If they can’t recreate the on-screen chemistry these guys had it’s destined to be a disaster.

Even if it turns out to be a half-decent tv series, I don’t think Disney will make anything that will appeal or appease dedicated Firefly fans.

The cast made it. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

I can't even watch most shows nowadays... Too woke/preachy.

Loved the original, don't hold much hope for the reboot, prepared to be disappointed.

Creativity must not exist any more.

Expect Book of Bobbast, utter rubbish that’s better not watched, better yet not even made, if you cared at all about the original content.

The time for reviving it is long gone. Concept was strong enough but I don't see it as something you'd want to reboot with a new cast. Especially as so many recent reboots seem to completely miss the point of why the originals worked.

1. Source an IP with an established decent sized fan base.
2 paper over the new agenda with existing characters, behaving and acting in ways they never would originally.
3. Blame fans for not liking a thing which isn’t the thing they liked originally.

Lot of expensive not-fan fiction making it to screen these days.

hehe, expect the above MO.
I accepted a while back; the books I love, the films I rewatch, the telly I am addicted to, all the great stuff over the years that has entertained and helped me, just, expect that it will be adapted/remade/rebooted and destroyed in the process, in some places with gleee, and do not comment on it because you will then be denounced as an xyz-aphobe by people who are just insane.
Have nil hope and expectations and just stick with the old stuff, let the crazies rip each other apart and you'll be more content. biggrin

I recall this being a clickbait story some months ago.
Is it actually happening?

Well as the link I provided shows Disney acquired the rights to the franchise after their 2018 acquisition of Fox. With it garnering such a large fan base in the course of only 11 episodes it's a bit of a no-brainer to make this and add it to their database of popular shows.

IMDB has the Movie 'Serenity' at 9/10 and Rotten Tomatoes (audience score) has it at 97% - that's higher than almost all other Sci-Fi movies.

But yes, at the moment Disney are not responding to questions about their plans for Firefly at the moment.

Speaking as a browncoat- I suspect that’s a reflection of a particularly devoted fan base more than a measure of quality.

As a result, such a reboot would likely result in Disney subscriptions increasing - so it’s certain to happen.

Shiny.
