It's a wholly owned outlet of the Russian state. The output is what the Kremlin wants you to see.
No different to the BBC then really. Anyhow, on the broader point, the internet itself only lets you see what the owners of the access point want you to see, Google is quite famous for this. They carefully select what comes up in search results.
4 minute clip, worth a watch..

Is this a Russian news channel?
If yes why haven't they pulled it off yet?
Because all BBC content would then be pulled from Russian channels and it's better to suffer RT here (which everyone knows should be listed in the fictional entertainment section of broadcast platforms) and have the BBC doing it's stuff in Russia than not.If yes why haven't they pulled it off yet?
It will be removed very soon. Handily enough for Sky they didn’t have to make the call on it, their supplier from within the EU is removing it following the EUs decision.

Unclear if it will go from Freesat and Freeview at the same time.
Ofcom have been pretty useless over RT for a number of years.

I've flicked it on a few times but never seems to have any news on Russia lolhttps://www.theguardian.com/media/2022/mar/01/russ...

It isn't 'on Sky'. It is FTA on Astra 2 (28.2 degrees east) as well as about a dozen other satellites that can be picked up in the UK. It just so happens that Sky put it on their EPG.
It is also 'on Freeview'.
I have been watching it the last couple of days just to see the Russian perspective on war (sorry, special military operations) propaganda. It was funny listening to their newscaster announcing last night that they had been banned from transmitting in Europe. Of course a blatant lie, no doubt being peddled in preparation of them using it as a pretext to take out Ukrainian national TV with an airstrike on the main transmitter.
"Banned" yet I was watching it in the UK, and the French, English and Spanish language versions were also all still transmitting on Astra 1 (which reaches pretty much the whole pf the EU landmass).

Noticed that RT is now unavailable via YouTube, within the UK anyway.
On a side note, one of their presenters is a solid 9/10. Lass by the name of Trinity.

There's a channel called Naked News in which the presenters start taking their cloths off as they read it out. Surprised anyone can pay attention to whats being said..
