Ms Marvel - TV Series
Discussion
So new TV series about a Pakistani American teenager finding out she has powers and is a fan of Captain Marvel.
Felt more like a live action version of Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse (still possibly the best spiderman movie to date) and in a good way.
Better than the other spin-off shows so far, which isnt hard.
I heard a rumour that Pakistan was going to get a theatrical release (all the episodes together) and not a 1-by-1 that we will get.
DOes make me wonder, if you was able to watch the other spin-offs like a movie, would they flow better?!?

Apparently it is the highest scoring MCU series on Disney+ yet.

I thought it was quite fun.
It may been aimed at teens but it was still enjoyable.
The opening sequence with the animation was pretty cool and it felt quite polished overall.
It had a Spiderman vibe to it, mixed with eastern culture and felt like something new and different to the norm.
The lead was very good for a first acting gig as well.
Also, there's an end credit scene in this.

Another good episode, it's quite refreshing to see such a difference in culture and how different it plays out compared to Western society within the Marvel universe.
It will be interesting to see how they are handling the Partition of India which I'm guessing would be a really sensitive discussion for many south Asians depending on how you were caught up in it.

I'm enjoying it and struggling with it in equal measure. The main bugbear of mine is why do American teenage girls talk in that whiney nasal tone that makes them almost entirely unintelligible? I find myself quite often really struggling to determine what they're saying, however, as I say, I am enjoying something Marvel that's a bit different to the standard fare.
I'm watching with my teenage kids, and I'm quite disappointed with it - it's very slow going.
"Never Have I Ever" on Netflix has a very similar premise (apart from the superpowers aspect) and is a vastly superior show.

Some very interesting ideas thwt ere not followed up, the character is a bit chintzy, and like a lot of modern Marvel stuff it is very box ticky, and the powers are just not sen enough, that is what this is supposed to be about, but as with Moon Knight they have made it all about characters not about Marvel which is a shame.
but it is an interesting idea and you can see why with many Marvel characters the comics were doing this thing in introducing different cultures and nationalties and changing races of character and genders, and in this modern generation it has even more relevance now. In many ways Marvel were well ahead of the game with so many things that are now coming far more to the fore in terms of equality.
