ITV detective series - who write's this crap
Discussion
Just watched the latest series of McDonald & Dodds on catch up (covid....) and I have to ask myself, who writes this utter crap.
The characters are likeable, the scenery is pleasant but the plots and scripts are dire. Even Agatha Christie didn't come up with such convoluted and improbable twaddle.
And the same could be said of Murder in Provence. A strong cast, great scenery and settings but apparently written by people wo can't conceive a realistic plot and outcome.
Such a shame as both had/have potential. I watched Vera for a few series and that started to go off the boil too but still retains some credibility.
And this from the channel that gave us the Sweeney.................

It's just 2 hours of Sunday night escapist telly. Nobody cares about the plot. It was never claimed to be complex, deep or literary. The characters are likeable, the scenery is pleasant but the plots and scripts are dire. Even Agatha Christie didn't come up with such convoluted and improbable twaddle.
