Changing channels on TV without a remote

An older friend of mine bought a JVC LT-43CA790 TV a few weeks ago and seems to have lost the remote control. I am not that clued up on modern TVs myself but he asked me if it was possible to change channels etc. on the TV itself without the remote as he cannot find any way to do it.

If it’s a smart TV like Google suggests, there’s probably a couple of phone based tv remote apps which will work.

The manual - https://currys-ssl.cdn.dixons.com/manuals/JVC%2043... - suggests there are a couple of buttons to drive the onscreen menus. No specific channel menus though. As said, a generic universal remote is the solution.

Replacement remotes are readily available. Amazon have lots - including originals as well as generic ones:
