Surprised this hasn’t got more comments on here. I’m watching this right now and it’s brilliant IMO

It's been posted in the main film forum.
Highly enjoyable and more serious than Guy Ritchies usual style.

ADHD editing mixed with over hammy acting. It's like call of duty the film. I couldn't get past the whole mine-ambush scene.

HBO did a series called Generation Kill based on a book by a rolling stone writer embedded with the 1st marine recon division during the 2nd gulf war. If you want THE definitive modern war series/experience, there you go, go watch it i recommend it whole heartedly.

This movie is tired out derivative silliness that is just too full of tropes, the taliban all in masks with ak's that shoot blanks and a 2inch mortar that is pinpoint accurate one second and all over the place for the films sake the next. The plotted behaviour of the characters, the break-neck speed of introducing people with no emotional investment to kill them. The interpreter is a well played character and did almost keep me invested but i just couldn't do it, 10ft away gunfights, magic driveby RPGS and stormtrooper levels of accuracy mixed with US laser beam rifles.

Awesome film. John Travolta was excellent. Dar Salim acted exceptionally well.

Well I haven't seen this movie so can't comment on that but I would agree that Generation Kill is superb.
