Just had an email...sky going up 5 pound a month next month on subscription.

I get rises but I will be paying 108 quid a month when that hits.

So I phone up sky....yes Sir we can offer you a new contract at 96 pounds a month...!!!!!

Im really cheesed off with them, the woman said "have you seen an offer somewhere else"...and I said yes if im a new sky customer its 70 odd quid. She then gave me a load of fancy words "This is a misconception that new subscribers pay the same as current etc"....HOW! and then put the phone down. I will not be spoken to like that.

Im thinking about giving them the royal finger after 20 odd years as this is just not on.

My conundrum;

1. I like the ease of turning on the TV and seeing something sports wise, streaming will send me potty not being able to flick channels
2. Golf majors are sky only
3. Footballs on Sky
3. My area doesn't do virgin.

Has anyone Bitten the bullet???

I thought this was a new series. Bit disappointed to be honest.

So, biting the bullet and getting a £7/month discount. Hmm difficult decision mate. silly

If you cancel, make sure they cancel everything.

Sky sent debt collectors after me because they'd not cancelled caller ID on the phone line I no longer had with them.

Then they sent debt collectors after me because they'd not cancelled the voicemail on the same phone line.

Scum.

Sacked off Sky during the summer.

Managing fine without. It's worse, but it saves a lot of money. It also saves a lot of time. I do not miss having to spend an hour or more every six or nine months trying to understand why my bill has increased by 80%.

I think it was them going to 18 month contracts which really pushed me over the edge.

I'll tell you what else really pissed me off- they invite you to manage your subscriptions via the app. Costed by the month, no obligation to continue... a slider to subscribe. So I can just slide the slider back to the 'off' position to end the subscription? No, you have to phone them.

Fine I'll phone them then. Except you have to go through a form just to get the app to generate you a one time use phone number.

fking awful business. Their poor call centre staff.

Look at Now TV sports? Smart TV allows me to use the TV remote to change channel.

Can you cancel Sky and sign up again?

My missus and me aren't married and have separate bank accounts.

Also, has anyone gone with BT TV?

So, BT will do the whole shebang for 81 quid (Multiroom box included).

With sky its going up to 108 quid + BT Sport I pay for. so a stinking 138 quid a month.

Only concern is its a 24 month jail sentence with BT if this service is ste.

When you cancel Sky, they'll be phoning you and spamming your letterbox with offers.

Yes. Binned of Sky TV last year. I just had 'sports' as an extra and it was £60-odd on top of the broadband/phone costs.

I wasn't watching F1 any more, Southampton FC are only on Sky the contractual minimum number of times each season (and will no doubt lose anyway).

I invested £100 in an annual sub to the NFL Game Pass which gives access to all the live games (plus all the NFL Network shows that Sky show).

Freesat, Amazon Prime, the free catchup services and the odd 'free trial' of other platforms has kept me going.

There's some anomalies such as some Freesat channels that you could get on-demand for free via Sky need a Discovery+ subscription to stream.

Im surprised they offered so little. They seemed desperate to retain people. In the past I had to do the merry dance of pretending to cancel, then wait for them to phone me with an offer. Last time I just phoned and said its too expensive what have you got for me and they dropped it from 70/month to 32.

Of course they have now also increased it by 6/month but still a lot less than I was paying.

Try again and see if you get someone better. Go through the cancel route and the retention team might have better offers

So a price I've got from BT is 81 quid (includes BT sport that I pay 28 for with BT to use on Sky).

I've rung sky and played "hard ball"....without telling them BT's price its gone down on offer to 81 quid (I pay 20 quid for some reason) and Sports 25 quid on multiroom (Not got BT sport on multiroom).

So I'm still 25 quid short on BT TV based on BT Sport.
