Pleased to hear that Attenborough's new series starts this Sunday 12th March, and covers the wildlife of the UK. He doesn't look 96 does he, but this is being billed as his last great adventure, nice that it's in the UK. Should be good..

Yeah looks good, but I'm hopeful he keeps the preaching to a minimum. It's spoiled the most recent stuff he's done for me, and yes, I do get it needs to be highlighted.

It's gonna be Ace. Should be better than the Stephen Fry dinosaur thing which was ok but a little bit meh. Agree with the preachy thing, also the bit at the end they've been doing on his last few series' where they've shown how it's made. It's a bit 'this is where you're license money goes'. Looking forward to it though.

The bit at the end is 10 minute padding to extend the running time to 60 minutes.
The actual programme will be 50 minutes so that it can meter fill a 60 minute slot on commercial channels with ads.

Fat chance of that, they were plugging it on the news today but not by the entertainment reporter but by the chief climate change reporter. That probably gives you an indication of how they plan to pitch this.

That’s why I won’t bother with it, someone spent their entire life flying to the four corners of the world with a huge film crew in tow telling us to save the planet.

Do as I say not as I do. Nature should be left alone.

.......but.....

If someone with his ability and knowledge of such key issues didn't travel the world and let millions of us see what is out there then we probably wouldn't be so concerned to help wherever we can.

For someone who is now 96 - and has contributed to so many quality documentarlies, for decades - I think he deserves considerable applause, not criticism.

I agree with that at all. Ever flown your family abroad on holiday over the years?

I think I have seen him recently acknowledging the inconsistency of his current message and his flying.

He is the person that I would listen to the most when it comes to climate change and the effect on the planet/ ecosystems etc. He has lived it first hand for many many years and nothing about what he is saying is anecdotal, it's his actual experience of what's happening.

“All our environmental problems become easier to solve with fewer people, and harder — and ultimately impossible — to solve with ever more people.”

Says father of two and Grandfather of a few more Sir David Attenborough, Population Matters patron.

I've just watched the final one and it's a mystery to me why it was only on iPlayer. It was a bit different from the other 5 but presented as a straightforward documentary with Attenborough doing the voiceover as normal. I've heard the explanation about WWF and RSPB, but as I say, a mystery.
