Revisiting 'Scrubs'
Discussion
Hi all, I've been watching Scrubs from the beginning as I noticed it was on Disney Plus. Was a big fan back in the day and it still holds up very well today. The biggest difference for me re-watching now I'm older is before the character I identified with most was JD, now by far and away it's Dr Cox. Funny how things change.
I always loved the way the show balances the ludicrous on one hand with something serious and profound on the other. Plus no laughter track, which was pretty unusual for a 2000's American comedy series. Anyone else here re-watched this recently?

Yep, watched the whole thing a few years ago.
Absolutely stop before the last series though. For some insane reason half the cast go AWOL, JD becomes an even bigger idiot (just stupid), new actors take the exact place of the ones that left. It's a car crash after all the excellent series before it.

Dr Cox. So, so identify with Dr Cox.
Was brilliant when I watched it originally back in the day and as grads we all identified with JD. Now, we,most, some of us are in more snr aspects of our careers, often with aspects of supervisory or training aspects. I suspect many many in such positions readily identify with Dr Cox.

Nice topic.
I love the show but not sure I’ve ever watched it perfectly chronologically! However, I have the pilot on Sky, recorded, and watch it quite often. That episode in particular is a masterpiece. The “are we racing?” bit, the “so who is the good guy” bit! Amazing. And two examples of the humour and sincerity the show does so well.
Other highlights for me mainly centre on Ted! When his head slips out of his hand and he bangs it on the table due to sweating, his “Alligator1” password. Isn’t there also a bit where he says something out loud when it should have been in his head and vice versa. Or is that something else? (Think Homer does it too!)

Recalling back to first time round, the two most powerful episodes for me were Dr Fox’s mate - Brendan Fraser - dying and the perfect shift of nobody dying.
Those 2 episodes have always stayed in my emotional subconscious.
Bit like the end of Buffy season 3, the “Faith” season. (Don’t care, sue me

)Scrubs was/is a massive part of my tv life growing up. As mentioned, it was such a good show and could bring joy and pain within minutes.
I'm not sure if watching it again is right though, it had it's time and is probably quite dated now.
When I learnt Sam Lloyd had passed I shed a tear, probably one of the first actors passing I've done that.

Thanks for this post as I needed reminding how good Scrubs is. Dr. Cox

By a very strange twist of fate, during my 'Scrubs-athon' I happened to watch the episode in Series 4 where JD's dad had died, on the very day that is the anniversary of my own father passing away (April 5th). I'm a little squiffy as I type this, but it felt like it was fate it should be that episode I watched. Honestly, this show still stacks up today.
