Soccer am to end after 28 years.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-6504...

While I lost interest after Lovejoy left, I thought the pared back but equally silly version with Fenners and Bully had been holding it’s own. If I was free at the time, it would always be flicked on. Especially for Pro/am to see how the celebs did.

Was nice to have an irreverent look at a sport that far too often takes itself far too seriously.

Sad news.

I've only just come across this news. I'll admit I didn't used to watch the whole show, but the piss take of Jeff on Shocker Saturday was something I would watch without fail every week.

Sad times when something so long standing heads to the bin.

2003 I was on it I think for the crossbar challenge. Missed it by a whisker!

For Athletic subscribers, they did a great piece on Soccer AM a few years back.

I think they were sunk once social media became popular, anything amusing from the weekend games had been going around on Twitter/Facebook/etc for a week, so was stale by the time they could show it the following Saturday.

There is always the review of Tim Lovejoy's book to fondly look back on -> https://www.wsc.co.uk/the-archive/no-love-no-joy/

Have been watching and laughing along with the usual crappy jokes.

Just starting to hit home that Saturday morning will be bereft from this moment forth.
