Came across as a throughly nice chap, especially on those dog shows.

Far too many 'sudden deaths' over the last few years, no idea what's causing it. rolleyes

Only 67 as well. Way too soon. Seemed a genuinely nice guy.

Very sad to hear. I was a big fan of his Sunday Radio 2 show.

Because of him, I can never listen to "I See the Moon" by The Stargazers or the "It's A Small World" song without laughling.

He'd had quite a few health scares over the years, including two serious heart attacks.

Genuinely very sad about this one. He did so much good for dogs, especially Battersea. I can only assume they will get a good size donation from his will.

One of those people who make you want to laugh when he was only having a simple conversation.

He will be missed.

Absolutely stunned, very fond of him. His acerbic wit was just off of the scale. Loved listening to his Sunday Radio 2 show.
His kindness and compassion towards animals.
RIP

Genuinely shocked and saddened by this news today.

Once he binned off that horrible Lily Savage character and just started being himself he turned out to be really likeable. We always enjoyed his tv show For The Love Of Dogs and it’s really sad that there won’t be any more.

I lived in Paul’s adopted village - Aldington, Kent up until a couple of years ago.

He was very much admired & respected by us local villagers. No airs or graces, just approachable, humble and, I guess, “normal”.

Top bloke.

As others a bit shocked, seemed to come from nowhere I guess. Man of the people a bit like a male version of Cilla.

Great shame my wife was a fan and we would listen to his show on Sunday preparing dinner. Battersey and many animals will miss him.
