Stacey follows a Ukrainian detachment of civilians undergoing basic training with the British army.

A welder. A jeweller. A flower grower.

Soldiers, accepting they will probably not survive.

Very good programme. Quiet moving

On the BBC, must be on iPlayer.

Missed first 20mins. Will probably watch it all again, absorbing program.
Real life but not as we know it.

When they signed up, they were asked "are you ready to die? They all said yes.

At the end, I can't remember it all, one of them said to Stacey "that's why we're fighting, so you don't have to".

Thought it was a pretty insightful programme and found myself with tears in my eyes on a few occasions. It certainly brought home the humanity of the men and the Ukrainian mindset. What a futile war! Stacey Dooley came across very well too.

The big big difference between Ukrainian & Russians soldiers is they are not forced in to volunteering. Morale must be so much higher than press ganged conscripts. I hope they prevail.
