Watched the trailer for this last night, I actually forgot I watched the second one (had to check!). First one was good though and I'll be seeing this one as well. Anything with Denzel gets a watch.
Denzel Washington is one of our very few ‘go to’ actors. Will watch anything he is in, even if the last one wasn’t ‘great’!Slaav said:

Same, he is so good, just doesn't make crap films. Man on Fire is my favourite Denzel film. This looks good as well. Glad to have something to look forward to at the cinema (apart from Mission Impossible and Oppenhiemer).

It covers quite a few genres and Denzil seems to transition across each ‘sub plot/genre’ with ease.
As a brief example of his range:
Philadelphia
Roman J Israel
Equalizer
Flight
Safe House
Deja Vue
Fallen
Bone Collector
Vastly different roles and so many characters and breadth of emotions.
The Equalizer trilogy has been hugely successful and it’s a shame some younger folk will ‘know him’ from those…..

Man on fire is, IMO, a terribly underrated film. It’s a revenge flick, action, suspense (to a degree,) family betrayal etc etc, film.

Since watching the first one, I’ve always been a bit cautious around those retired blokes working part-time in B&Q.
Enjoy most things I’ve seen him in, but I think Training Day is peak Denzel for me.
Oscar for best actor in Training Day. He’s a terrific actor, lost count of the number of Oscars he’s been nominated for now.Enjoy most things I’ve seen him in, but I think Training Day is peak Denzel for me.
This new film - I’ll be watching it for sure.
That looks really good, seems a bit closer in concept to 1 rather than 2, which is definitely a smart move. Not that 2 was bad, it was just a bit more of a generic action film and less about him helping normal people, which is kind of the whole point and also what the name is about.
I'd agree about Man on Fire, great film. I must have watched it 5 or 6 times, and when I saw it was on TV the other night I thought I've got so much stuff to do, can't sit here and spend two hours watching a film I've seen loads of times. And then I did anyway.

What the world really needs is a John Wick/The Equalizer/Nobody movie. That would be awesome.
However, that looks good. The first two movies were an enjoyable evening in front of the telly.

I nearly listed Training Day but despite it being a brilliant film, for me, there’s just something about either the film, or his character? One could argue it’s his character but the fact I just don’t like him to the degree I don’t want to rewatch the film, shows what a brilliant actor he is. Odd one for me and really can’t put my finger on why exactly? It may just be me though ….
