So I've got myself an Apple TV and the plan is to bin Sky once I know 100% I can cope without it (god how pathetic does that sound biggrin).

There's a ton of streaming services out there.

I appreciate it will depend on what you like to watch but in broad terms which ones do people consider are worth the money?

For example Disney + is a must because of the Star Wars content and I think I'll get 3 months of Apple TV free so I can try that out.

I have Prime Video almost as a by product of the "free" delivery that I originally got Prime for.

Netflix has never appealed perhaps because you can't see in advance what's on it but for a fiver for the base subscription maybe I'll try it.

You get the idea. What do you pay for? smile

We have Sky, I'll always keep that, mostly for Sports.

Prime

Netflix

Disney+

Got a six month sub to Apple for free, not found anything on there for me.

For me personally Prime and Netflix get the most use.

Netflix.

Prime.

Now TV.

We don't watch normal TV and don't have sky so get plenty of use from them. Now TV the least used, might get rid.

Got rid of a small Sky sub about 18 months ago.
Haven't missed it at all.
If the subsciption services didn't have Ads I might consider one but no way am I paying to watch adverts.
Just use a Roku stick and watch stuff for free.

Currently have

Sky
Prime

sharing

Netflix
D+

will likely get 3 months or so of

Paramount (ST:SNW; Yellowstone and the spin-offs)
Apple TV (freebie for 3 odd months with sky)

There are quite a few others to try on Amazon but they can wait for the time being

iPlayer
YouTube Premium
NFL Gamepass
Amazon Prime

plus the odd month of random channels on Prime:
eg. Discovery+ to watch WEC races

I am tempted to do a discounted 6 months of NowTV instead of renewing the NFL Gamepass.

Ads on subscription services?
Sky was running about 12 minutes of ads an hour, are you saying Netflix, Apple etc don't have advertising?

The ads on Sky piss me off. Watching cricket on Sky sports which I pay about a tenner a month for, end of an over, let's show an ad.

Netflix, Disney, Apple don't have ads. There is a channel on Prime that shows some stuff for free with ads but I'm general it doesn't.

There was talk of Netflix offering a cheaper service with ads but not sure it's a thing yet

The Netflix with ads thing is a thing and it's £4.99/month.

I'm not seeing much mention of (for example) Paramount + and many of the services outside of Netflix Disney Now TV and Prime.

Any more worth checking out?

I got a year free with Paramount + via Sky VIP. Not been impressed. Started watching a film and couldnt understand why the surround wasn't working till I noticed it was presented in SD with only stereo sound. Maybe that's just because I have a free version and you get the better stuff if you pay.

Tulsa King on there looks like it might be worth trying but not sure.

Netflix - rarely watch it. Looks mostly rubbish.

Amazon Prime Video - as above.

Spotify - rarely use it.

Qobuz - always using it

Roon - not strictly streaming (sort of is) - always using it.

I enjoyed Tulsa King - but it seems to be marmite. Other than that Yellowstone is excellent (and I hear good things about the prequels), ST:SNW is great, but if you don't like Star Trek then....

Netflix - Most used by family

Prime- Don't really use much but I benefit from Prime deliveries so the TV is part of it

Youtube Premium- This is my most used subscription both TV content and music streaming.

I recently cancelled Disney +
