Looks st, they need to stop with the reboots/prequels to the classics.
There's just a certain magic to original films which these new editions can never capture.

I must admit, I quite like the look of the film, even the little hints of the original films sound track in the trailer.

It will be interesting to see this take on the story, and timothee chalamets version of Wonka,

Although the Gene Wilder one is still my favourite, not so much the Johnny Depp one!

I think this may actually have some merit.

Obviously, that will be either confirmed or destroyed come the whole film.

Yet I think that as a subject, as it’s never been done, the producer and director may have sufficient latitude to make something fairly good.

Did a few days on this back in 2021, seems like an eternity ago as it was originally due for release in March 2023.

Not interested in most of that but the Hugh Grant bit is hilarious.

Yeah it was the best part of the trailer.

Although they could have got some lifesize oompah loompahs, instead of CGI.

There can't be a shortage of actors out there to play them.

I think you’d struggle, they’re supposed to be about 2 feet tall. Even dwarves aren’t that short.

This is a different story to the other Wonka films, looks good.

laugh That right tickled me too..

I love the original as well as the Johnny Depp one. Never understood why people whinge about remakes and reboots, more the better I say and you know what, you don't have to watch it.

Can proper tell it's come from the director of Paddington, got exactly the same aesthetic. This is gonna be good!

I’m not a fan of remakes at all, how many would watch a remake over the original?

Especially Hollywood rehashes of European films, The Wicker Man, The Italian Job for instance which were both awful.

In fact any US remakes of anything, World Films or Scandi Noir as a prime example.

I know Yanks can’t hack subtitles but when they remake a film or series for US consumption they cannot resist messing with the plot and characters until they have lost the essence of the original work.

I'm going to give it a try, might surprise me. Whose that in the shop? Looks and sounds like Albert Finney but obviously can't be.

Puts me in the mood to watch the original. I'll probably not watch this one. Why mess with the classics?

No-ones messing with the Gene Wilder version, it still exists and always will.

This is taking Wonka and creating a film in a timeline before the original was set.

I think it's Jim carter, Carson from Downton Abbey.

Looks like it.

I was somewhat sceptical about this but that actually looks pretty good.

It's an ok film, but certainly not the Wonka film I wanted it to be, but then it has an impossible act to follow for anyone who has seen the original. Hugh Grant was the real star of the show for me.

Every time I hear of another lazy remake I'm reminded that true talent requires effort, and that the modern world just cannot be arsed.
Look at the music scene. Its complete st.
