Story of OxyContin, an opioid painkiller, and how it was pushed through by sales-people for doctors to prescribe and its effects.

Pretty shocking stuff that does seem hard to believe that it could get so out of hand, but being America not so hard to believe.

Four out of six episodes in, but it's pretty compelling and well worth a watch.

I'm up to the same point as you. Very interesting and concerning how it got to that state so relatively recently.

As I was watching it I suddenly remembered news articles, or hearing discussions on a podcast, about the vans driving around with homeless to pick up prescriptions.

Apparently it's a copy of Dopesick, which was released a couple of years ago with Michael Keaton.

I haven't seen the Netflix version but Dopesick was excellent and I'd highly recommend anyone with Disney+ to watch it. The Sackler family should be rotting in jail.

Dopesick was a real eye-opener.

It was quite addictive, really kept me coming back for more.

More seriously, it was well made. However, unless one has been living under a stone, the story - sad that it is - has been done to death, so it left me wanting.

Half way through. It's not bad but nowhere near as good as Dopesick.

If Dopesick is a broadsheet this is a tabloid.

Since this is a car forum I am surprised nobody noticed the absolute howler in episode 4.

The scene in the sorority has the girls staying there shouting out which cars they want to own and one of them says McLaren.

I spotted this last night! I'm not sure girls were aspiring to Mclaren F1s in the late 90s/Early 00s!

Yes. I liked Dopesick and it was much better than Painkiller. It's still okay though.

I agree with others, Dopesick is much better than Painkillers.

However, if you’ve seen neither; I would recommend watching ‘Crime of the Century’ a two part documentary, including depositions from Richard Sackler, a real eye opener.

This gives you a bit of insight into the shenanigans, then watch Dopesick.
