I have a cold this weekend and have been watching more TV than normal.

One thing I noticed is the amount of adverts for charities.

RNLI, Guide Dogs, McMillan Nurses, Water Aid and so on

I am wondering, has anyone ever actually donated to a charity because they saw an advert on TV.

Personally, I always wonder how much they spent on the advert and not deserving causes and tend to avoid those that advertise.

It must work for them otherwise they wouldn’t do it, and I suspect airtime on random daytime channels is quite cheap to buy.

What charities do you donate to? And what drew you to donate when you started?

I donate to an animal charity every month and other charities (mainly medical/health) on an ad hoc basis. Due to personal experiences or family association.

I always think the same about various religious people turning up at your door.

Do people really have a revelation and think yes I’m glad you came I was waiting to become a Jehovah’s Witness all this time?
