He has been great in everything that he has done. And a lovely chap in real life too.

Let’s see how this pans out…

Binge watched the whole thing today as both the wife and myself are sick and didn’t want to move off the couch.

Not bad. Bring on season 2

Enjoyed the first episode, great scenery as well we stayed near the Skirrid Inn around 10 years ago.

I'm also a fan, and always hoped that this was the case, but I'm sure I read otherwise at some point. Not that it matters.

Guardian 4 stars, Independent 2 stars. I hate reviews.

Keen to give it a go.

Binged it yesterday. It's ok, and well acted, but somewhat unbelievable storyline.

Hasn’t Martin Clunes come a long way since Men behaving badly days?
I must be one of the only people who enjoyed his Reggie Perrin re make.

Anyway, looking forward to this, hopefully me and the Mrs will be both at home together and awake enough to watch it soon!

Enjoyed 3 episodes so far, well acted, but deeply depressing, a shot gun suicide, mother died few years ago, teenage lad in nice environment getting in with the local scum.
The juxtaposition of the rolling hills and then the sink estate is rarely done in TV to my knowledge and really shone a light on how life really is all about sufferance, its just a long journey of suffering ultimately whatever situation your in.
Finding out my mother in law's cancer has spread and its now palliative care from this point on last night, didn't help. A hand grenade can be chucked into what you think is life at any point and ............. yeah its dark.

I'm not saying it should of been light viewing, just saying Doc Martin it ain't...

I know first hand about life's st as my wife was dead in a two week period from diagnosis of breast cancer and I live in a place which is ravaged with drug dealers but you have to be tough otherwise it will grind you down. I've been really lucky and have found someone else who worked with my wife. I've watched the whole series on itv x and it doesn't get any better it's really depicts how Britain has become.

Watching his portrayal of Mr Chips at Xmas time, and got some grit in my eyes, as you do, Clunes, either deliberately or otherwise is resolutely untypecastible, bit like David Jason, every character he portrays has a real depth to it, same with his travelogues, or progs about dogs, he's just a genuinely decent fella.

So sorry for your loss, trying to make that seem meaningful in a forum post is tricky but i truly mean that from the bottom of my heart and i glad you made it through to some light.
Agree on the 'what Britain has become', but i'd say humanity has always been dark and is sadly lighter than its ever been looking back through history...

Every now and again we get an interaction on here that completely up ends all of the crappy posts, arguments and negativity.

If we could only all manage it a bit more.

1 episode to go, really enjoyed it so far and have mentally switched to viewing it a bit like Breaking Bad. I remember being at work years ago and a guy said I'd love Breaking Bad and i watched 2 episodes and thought it was daft. Because i went in expecting 'The Wire'.
Then after episode 4 of BB i was hooked and its still one of the best things I've ever seen.
Now everything seems to be done like BB or Better call Saul.
I've readjusted once the Drug lord accepted the farm offer that to me its Breaking Bad in Wales.

The acting between the brothers is electric, and its one of those where it could of just been a drama about farming and scrap all the drug stuff and it still would of been great...
But yes, really good so long as you can adjust to it and go along for the ride, because its worth doing that IMO.
