Looks interesting, never read the book, just seen the film.

Still filming in Malaysia, so no broadcast date as yet.

Always makes me sad seeing the speccy kid picked on in that film.
I guess every TV reality show has become a guide for fking each other over so why not pits some kids against each other in a dramatized fashion.

It's a successful book but the real thing was much more illuminating about human nature.

Had the book as a GCE O level subject. Went to see the film. B&W IIRC that'll have been 1968 or 69.
Was on with The Wild One! Marlon Brando.
Note in the new adaptation, Cornelius Brandreth. Grandson of Gyles....

Surely a BBC version will be so PC that nobody gets picked on?

Instead they’ll all celebrate their diversity and then sit round a camp fire singing Kumbaya.

Expect the BBC to fully tick every gender/mulitcultural box with the cast, no-one will be murdered or called 'bad names' . I seem to remember the book containing a large amount of profanity - amusing at the time as i read it at secondary school. I bet that gets removed to some degree.

It turns out one of them is a girl. nobody would have suspected as it was the fearsome and resourceful one.
