I used to like watching Crufts but after tuning in today it’s become almost unbearable. 20% adverts, 20% filler guff and then we have to endure the omnipresent Claudia Winkleman having a luvvie-in with Amanda Holden, ffs. I know streaming and fast forward is the answer but it’s just a shame it’s such a bloated out ad vehicle like so many other events these days. Bah

The owner of this years best in show winner is a convicted animal abuser.

You think they'd have better vetting on entrants.

We were really surprised when we read about the conviction. That should warrant an immediate lifetime ban. But then you get the impression that this is a self-supporting industry, generating big income for the top breeders.

How the heck can it be down to just one-person to choose the best in show. The runner-up stood out to us as being so full of personality, it was the one you would love to give a home to.

I and then Winkleman turns up like a bad penny.

In terms of genuine competition, the agility sessions are really entertaining.

The starting point for Crufts isn't a good one, judging dogs by standards imposed on a breed that can be detrimental to the dogs health, such as the Cavalier King Charles having skulls that are too small for their brain, the rear ends of German Shepherds etc.
So anything onwards from that can't exactly be classed as good.

I hear it all started in the 1800's when rich bored wives created the Kennel Club as something to occupy themselves with.
