I enjoy a bit of Sci-fi and a bit of comedy, so no idea how I missed these the first time around....

But for the past 7 days I've seen the entire series of Firefly from start to finish, followed up by the movie last night. Highly enjoyable, and extremely dissapointing that it didn't get more air time.

No idea how they managed to get a movie signed off, but glad they did, but it should have tied up more loose ends than it did for the viewers of the series. Although its no suprise that it flopped, on its own I should imagine the film doesn't really "add up" - but for the (relatively few) fans of the series, its all good.

As in "Chuck", Adam Baldwin gets all the best lines. "Do you know what the chain of command is??" wink

If you liked Firefly/Serenity, may I humbly suggest that you look for a box set of Space: Above and Beyond.

Like the subject of this thread it only lasted one series and suffered from woeful scheduling. Yes, it is probably one of the finest sci-fi series ever made.

Oh God, Space:Above and Beyond was woeful! Firefly, and Serenity are, in my opinion, one of the finest sci-fi offerings out there, full stop.

Aha! I am (for once) on top of that one, as I used to watch it when it aired in the UK back in the 90's smile I did love that show.

I actually watched a few episodes a while back, and it hasn't aged particularly well, but some episodes are still cracking. "Who Monitors the Birds?" and "Angriest Angel" being two of the highlights. Always had to laugh at "Chiggy von Richthofen" biggrin

I always like Jane's sad expression when he is told he isn't allowed to bring is grenades. Or the saga involving naming his machine gun.

I am pretty sure that a lot of the loose ends are tied up in a series of comics that were released after Firefly was axed. I think they are supposed to cover the gap between Firefly and Serenity.

I didn't think that Serenity flopped in the box office. It wasn't a run away hit, but thanks to a large fan base and some strong reviews I was under the impression that it did well. I would imagine that it has made a lot of money from DVD sales.

Did anyone notice how she and nathan fillion trimmed down/up for the movie?

Such a shame it was cancelled, because it was quite simply epic

Beware ruddermode, Daniel's in your bunk.

Firefly was a good series but not a great series.

That's because it got cancelled. They had to do that in the film.

Another 'remember Firefly' thread wink

Loved both it and Serenity, the cast looked like they genuinely got on together - the chemistry was perfect. Joss Whedon was on top form with the dialogue too. Would love to have seen where they took it if the money had been there for more series. I think my favourite episode was 'Jaynestown', I really need to watch them all again some time soon.

As an aside, we were watching some old Buffy episodes on Sci-Fi the other day - I had forgotten how great some of the dialogue was in that show. Classic line from Spike when Drusilla had left him - 'I bought her lovely dresses...... with lovely girls in them too'.

Just checked Amazon have the Blu Ray import Firefly box-set for £47, very tempting.

Did you not watch the film, Serenity? She goes bat-sh*t crazy twice on rooms full of people - and always comes out the last one standing.

Crowd - "To Jayne!"
Jayne - "To me!!!" biggrin

The "Objects in Space" episode is also awesome. Jubal Early (played by Richard Brooks) is fantastic...

Am I a lion? biggrin

Anyone who liked Serenity should have a look at the new version of 'V' when it is shown as some familiar faces make an appearance in that.

Yep I saw the film, but this is why I don't rate the series as great, they only got to character intros really.
It could have been great though, if they gave it more time.
