That one certainly does qualify as a sinkhole, as opposed to a feeble washout that the media usually like to jump on and hype up as a killer sinkhole.

I was thinking about what came down from the mountain, if it was slag from the mining.

The only good thing about the place is the hill.
I lived in Pant for 3 years. It was an utter hole then.

It was strangely some of the best times of my youth and the worst. The chip on their shoulders about the English is enormous.

Having been to Merthyr a few times, I just think the sinkhole needed to be quite a bit larger

To be fair - it would be a bit worrying having that open up at the end of your drive
