I listened to this guy for most of my life so it's fitting that I post an RIP for DJ Johnnie Walker who has sadly passed.

Thanks for all the hits Johnnie.

That was a shock, was talking to my dad earlier when my parent came round, played him a few tracks and he was talking about his days listening to Radio Caroline and listening to JW as a kid and then we hear he had passed.

He presented me with an album for winning a disco dancing competition where he was the guest dj.
Must have been around 1973.
I seem to recall he had cancer ( possibly throat) many years back.

It was non-Hodgkin's lymphoma IIRC, RIP to a broadcasting legend

I loved his show on a Sunday, pottering about in the garage, having a weekend beer. Not just the music he played - he had a real human warmth and connection that seems to be sadly lacking from a lot of other presenters - a Class act.

Slightly too young, not by much, but have found it nice to see how many remember the pirate radio days and have respect for all he’s done.

Respected as a force.

ETA father in law is in loss of a generation sad, he’s not a happy man.

Understand how some find sad. Like the stories about pirate radio.
