Ant wants to cleanse London

So at a wild guess

10,000 Police Officers
5 new police stations
40,000 new prison places
Judges to set tougher sentences
Social policy in places to keep youth out of the streets
Drugs policy in place to prevent/treat drug use
Control dodgy immigrants/criminals coming in
Better schooling
Stuff to reduce poverty

Almost none of which the Mayor can control.

If it was that easy Ant, we could all do it.

Ant who went to prison for assaulting a couple of police officers.

Clearly the right person to party oversee the Met.

A bit DM comment section-esque, but I thought he was in his 50s look at that top pic.

Although perhaps a bit glib to suggest someone who served in the forces may have had a hard paper round.

When the supposedly rational political figures are as bad as the current crop then figures like this can take the opportunity to get involved. If this or the previous Govt were even slightly up to the job this guy would never have as much to say.

We are screwed. see the US and Trump for further details...

He'd probably do well as a Reform MP in many parts of the country.

Can't see him getting more than a handful of votes in London.

Odds are he would make it as an MP, mayor or London is harder given wide range of constituencies. But maybe

'one of the murder capitals of the world'

I will vote for someone who is medically proven not to spend their days with social media plugged into their glans while they twitch in a gaming chair.

Erm, do I?

1.59 murders per 100,000 people in London.

A couple of Mexican cities are 100x higher.

Brussels has 2.8 murders per 100,000.

Most low-level crime e.g. phone-snatching, jumping ticket barriers etc. goes on unchallenged. I propose some tough measures like banning those people from using TFL and hire bike services.

Middleton was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire, and brought up in France.

How much time has he spent here (London)? Would like to hear more about he is going to "cleanse" London's blood-soaked streets and 'reinstate British culture' in the capital.

Close the curry houses and shut down china town. That will go down well.

Ant Middleton must be one of the few people I have a lower opinion of than Sadiq Khan.

Both heavily flawed, but at least Middleton's used his for some good.

You are talking about the same person sentenced to 14 months for the unlawful wounding of one police officer and common assault upon a second police officer aren’t you?

Or is it ‘oh it was just a mistake’ etc and now he wants to ‘cleanse London’ of people who commit similar (or worse) crimes?

ETA: ‘cleanse’ has worrying historical overtones

As a Londoner, i'd want a mayoral candidate to focus on the following for me to vote for them

- High crime rate. Start with zero tolerance on shoplifting and low level crime/antisocial behaviour and focus on trying to reduce violent crime
- Recruit enough police
- High rents - come up with a workable plan to make housing more affordable
- High cost of living - can anything be done about this in London?
- Schooling - Somehow make schooling safer/better for some boroughs where demand is high
- Roadworks - have some joined up thinking please
- 20mph speed limits and low traffic neighbourhoods - these are out of control too and not all roads/areas need these
- Hold train/bus companies to account for cancelled/delayed services
- Council tax - the increases are going out of control. Some boroughs increased their CT by 15% last year
- Too many barber/betting shops / do something about our declining high streets

Hopefully there is a candidate in the next election that focuses on things that Londoners actually care about

Big city, big crime. Easy to not be able to see past the numbers and forget that London is 9m people or whatever.

Well done for understanding the heavily flawed part. You're halfway there.

It would be an uphill struggle.

A handful of neighbourhoods aside, the bulk of London has descended into an expensive cesspit through weak politicians.
I am now extremely picky on location when buying London property.
