I've searched the forum and around 2018 people were buying diy split air con units that were pre charged. Do these still exist nowadays or has the gas type changed etc or something else?

I've looked at a wall hung all in one unit and this maybe better option.

Thoughts please?

Thanks

Split units are available pre charged. But not the same quick connect fittings once available.

You should only be able to purchase R290 or any other low/zero greenhouse refrigerant systems - air con direct have a few on offer. This is however refrigerant grade propane and you should ensure you are happy to make off such connections (4 required min) and be happy that 2 will be inside your house and could potentially leak.

Such places shouldn't be selling you R410a/R32 units if not suitably qualified and able to prove such.

You still need (assuming happy to not cut down and re flare the pipeset):
Vacuum pump capable of 2 Torr and below
Vacuum gauge + core remover to let you at least pull a vac and attach vac gauge
Oxygen free nitrogen and regulator capable of delivery of 19.91 - 25.9 Bar g for R290 if my maths is correct
Manifold gauges to monitor pressure on above.

Would be interested to see it. What about the noise if it's all inside?

Over ambient at circa 40dB?

Had a quick search and cant see anything on offer that is below 60dB, looks like they use rotary instead of scroll compressors which probably will be the cause.

Also intrigued with how you get on with sound/vibration, tempted to put one in the tricky loft conversion.
