Snagging a New Build
Discussion
If all goes well, we will be moving into a new build in September. Has anyone used or would recommend a snagging company, or with a few proformas off the web and a bit of knowledge, should I be able to do it myself. Also, what do you do (or does the builder do), if you find something significant like a wall out of true?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Who s the guy on YouTube that calls everyone a winklespanner and says Ridiculous in a really annoying way?
Knows his stuff though - they work uk wide.
I also like "fartwaft". I've been watching his videos for inspiration! It all looks common sense but then lots of things do until you get into it deeply!Knows his stuff though - they work uk wide.
Cheshire? I'm a bit away but I do offer them as a service as a property developer myself. It's not just the usual stuff (looking for chips or repaired bath cracks) but recognising building control methodology and building regs themselves.
The first question I always ask is can you access the architects drawings and drainage plan-these are worth the fees alone!
If they're a big builder they may employ a "snag doctor" themselves pre-sale, they'll go round and look for anything first that can be repaired-a £75 chip repair on granite is a whole heap less than the customer seeing and demanding a new slab on their island.
In the end, it really depends on who the developer is. I generally find a small time developer is better as the site agent may even be one of the directors or owners and pride in the job still exists for some of us! But then there's a small development going on around the corner from my latest site and the developer is one of our travelling friends. Just from looking at the externals I can tell they'll be dogs

Sometimes the fee is worth it for piece of mind, if they charge less than £500 it'll be something you could do yourself with a print off from money saving expert or the like.
