We've agreed a sale on our house in Cheshire and will be moving into rented accommodation in East Lothian prior to starting work on another self-build and I'm starting to think about getting quotes for removals and storage. For those that have moved a reasonable distance and had to put things into long-term storage, are you better off getting a company that's local to where we currently live or to where we are moving? Just thinking about the practicalities of getting quotes as much as anything.

Long move but no store - Gloucestershire to Wester Ross.
I went with local to origin for the ease of getting quotes.

Worked well.
<anecdote mode> Main van driver was a very local Gloucestershire chap. Somewhat freaked by being stared down by a chunky stag near to the new house! </anecdote mode>

Edit, misunderstanding.

I’d go with a company where you are moving to.

I don’t think it will make loads of difference price wise though.
