BT- getting nowhere fast!
Discussion
Does anyone know how we can contact someone high up at BT?
We have been waiting since November last year to get their "superfast broadband" service installed. We have not even had a home phone number since we moved last November
Apparently, they are waiting for Openreach to do their bit, which involves digging up the path. This has been postponed seven times since we were first given a date. Despite ringing them several times and being told that it will 100% be done on the next date we were given, nothing has been done.
We have just had it postponed (again) to 5th Sept.
If they can't do it, for whatever reason, I just wish they would say! Can anyone recommend an alternative? We have had a satellite dish installed a few months ago. Can we get a similar service through that?
Forgot to mention, They did give us some sort of hub, so we do have internet for the TV, etc.
Thanks

Have you looked at using a 4G/5G router with a mobile SIM? If mobile coverage inside the house isn't great, getting an external antenna is relatively common these days.
I'm not up to speed on this sort of thing. I think I shall have a word with the guy who fitted the dish. He seemed very knowledgeable.thanks for the suggestion.

I used to work for Openreach and not sure I've heard any of the senior female management team being described before as a top chic Jim

When I was customer facing on Openreach it was drummed into us at the time of the split from BT, that the end user would always have to deal direct with the service provider in all cases. High Level Complaints should be instigated by the Service Provider be it SKY, Vodafone ,EE or any of the other altnets. I've been retired now for a year and a half but don't think that has changed.

Good theory but just doesn't happenSo you have internet, it's just the superfast stuff you don't have?
I assume this is fibre to the property?
Ultimately it's all outsourced to OR now and BT etc have their hands tied because they are dependent upon OR doing the work.
I had a similar issue when I moved house some years ago, we had no phone line full stop, i.e. no copper to the house. Long story short it took 6 months for OR to finally provide FTTP, luckily being rural their rollout was in progress and it was just a waiting game, I got a decent payout from BT as they couldn't provide the service also.
In the interim I opted for a 4G MiFi device, which you could use in the interim, but you say you have internet already?

Since you say end Users had to deal with their ISP , who exactly were the customers that YOU faced ? .... The ISPs ???
(It was BT Wholesale and National Networks in my day)
The on and off migration of BT to EE is even more confusing with the apparent change in policy from the new lady CEO .
I dealt directly with OPENREACH when I got the Gigabit Infrastructure money (vouchers) from the Government to pay for FTTP in our village.

It has changed- we’ve been dealing with several people at Openreach before I contacted the exec team. They are now dealing directly with with Sky and we appear to have an installation date in two weeks.
As someone who took a day off and stayed home all day yesterday waiting for Plusnet / Openreach to not turn up to the appointment to fit fibre, you have my sympathy OP.
Apparently I can sign a contract, get a fitting date sent through (with warning of £100 fee if I don't turn up), and yet at thier end no contract and therefore no fitting date was created....FFS.
Apparently Openreach need to do a street and site survey, despite the fibre in the street only having been fitted 3 months ago....and apparently there's no certainty of them being able to fit fibre despite not giving me an option of staying on copper...No, I've no idea either.
