Great balls of fire (retardant)
Discussion
Anyone got any experience of these things?

We had some extra circuits added to our consumer unit recently, and the electrician advised we put one of these in. Along with the consumer unit, gas meter and electric meter, I have all my network gear in the same cupboard, and the cupboard is on route to two of the exits from the house, so adding a fire suppressant seemed like a good plan.
I've since seen some conflicting info on them, and it seems the US has even put out a safety warning, which looks to be because it's not as effective as a fire extinguisher.

It seems like a reasonably sensible safety precaution to me, anyone got any knowledge about them?
