My Monarch Midi water softener brine tank was filling with water and not flushing - so i took it to bits to give it a clean, but in the course of blowing it out a rubber ball flew out and i'm not sure where it came from.
I think the actual fault was a clogged screen on the drain pipe - but cant put it back together until i work out where the rubber ball goes.

I removed the screen and blew air down the top:

this is the rear:

This is the fill solenoid i think and the rubber ball - it seems to fit the hole perfectly..

Sorry I can't help with your 'lost ball' but by any chance do you know how to get into the engineers menu? I used to know but have forgotten. Mine's a slightly different panel but same (within reason) 3 buttons.

Try:
Push the scroll button and hold it for 10 sec until the display shows: system check.

To close the thread - I emailed Monarch and they sent over the very comprehensive service manual with exploded diagrams etc - great customer service, well done Monarch.

Hi Eliot,

Did you get yours sorted? I've picked up a second hand softener like yours and it constantly fills the brine bin with water. Having taken it apart, it seems I'm missing the little ball - probably why the 'seller' was getting rid of it - I'm guessing he had an issue, took it apart, lost the ball etc etc. The rest is history.
It's part number PE541275 or 541 275 Check Ball. I can find a seller in the USA but can't find a UK supplier via a quick Google - anyone out there know a good supply by any chance?
https://www.softenerparts.com/pe541275.htm?

Do you remember, was it a rubber (soft) or hard material?

it s a rubber ball - ive sent a pm

monarch told me they do still hold some parts - you need to email them for anything you are interested it. The ball isn’t anything special, it sits in the cup off the front part you remove - i don’t think it needs to be super accurate

The ball seats against the white spigot on the right if this pic

In terms of diameter - it was exactly the same as the lower hole in the above pic.

Once you measure it - something like this will suffice imo:

Quick update, I've just measured the hole (top one where the ball would go and bottom one for cross reference) and it is around 7mm (measured with various sized drill bits). The OD of the white spigot is 6.5mm. I'll probably go with a 7mm ball.
