I'm looking for a comfy and nice-looking gaming/office chair to go in a bedroom. Needs to be high-backed, fully adjustable, and preferably with a flip-out leg rest. It's going on a porcelain tile floor, so relatively soft wheels would be nice.

I'd prefer grey fabric rather than fake leather or mesh.

I like the look of the Boulies Master Rex, but reviews are a bit mixed, with some saying that it's just a generic Chinese chair at double the price?
If that's the case, I might as well save £150+ and buy a Chinese brand via Amazon.

Note that it won't be used all day, every day.

What's out there that fits the bill without breaking budget?

I went for a Noble 'Icon' chair back after Covid hit and it's still as good as the day I got it. Incredibly solid, comfortable and looked like a classic car seat. Various different options, some look more like sports seats but all good quality chairs.

Seems there's a few on discount on their site, so £300 a decent budget for one.

Does this have adjustable reclining angle? Most of the chairs ive had are either upright or fully back. Id like to be able to set it at the angle i want and keep it there biggrin

Cant help recommend a chair but I would advise doing a search for local office supplies companies.

I recently picked up an excellent ergonomic chair that’s fully adjustable with a high back for £110. Ok it was refurbished but brand new it would have been close to £500.

The place I went get lots of returned stock from office closures and refurbish those that can be resold.

Being able to try lots is also helpful especially if you have any back issues.

£29 over your budget, but this chair is excellent (apart from the plastic covers on the sides). Had it for more than 2 years now and is the best investment I ever made.

I chanced upon it when I was getting my car serviced and wandered over to Currys to kill some time.

Previously, I used to replace office chair every 6 months or so because
a) I am a heavy b******, and
b) I have a habit of leaning back.

The Noble Icon looks good, version that I'd want currently out of stock though.

There aren't any oficce supply stores down here. Actually, there is one, but the Google reviews are terrible.

The Arozzi looks good, £249 at Currys right now. Shame about the prominent logo.

I have had a good experience with Secret Lab, Omega for 6 years and the Titan Evo for 2 and they have been great. Terrible customer service though. But Noble chairs are VERY similar and cheaper.

Also do see if the gaming style chairs are the right chairs for you. The real pro for me is being able to recline it to almost lie down for a bit of a nap. You may be able to get a second hand Herman Miller Aeron for cheaper and they are very good for work.

Yes it does, you can adjust either the back into multiple positions or you can adjust the whole chair to lean back so base and back. If that makes sense.

As an aside, you can buy 'quiet' wheels for chairs that you just slot in as replacements for the standard ones.

Does that matter? you're buying a single chair. Go and see what they have and find something that works for you. If nothing they have works, then at least you've ruled out some options

The fabric on my 15 year old chair has finally succumbed to my butt cheeks laugh and torn. I quite like the look of the Noble Legend, it doesnt have the superfluous shoulder wings that some of the others do.

The sensible option is the TX fabric version, but after watching some YouTube reviews, I'm really drawn towards the black, red and white hitech faux leather version... such a tart laugh

I decided to go for the Boulies Master Rex in grey fabric, £320. Seems fine, all works. Nicely finished.

Looking closely at the pics of Secret Labs, Noble, and Boulies, they are remarkably similar products, type for type.

The wheel frame, tilt mechanism, arms, even the fabric panel layout look the same.
The only real differences seem to be with the plastic parts - knobs, levers and recline hinge covers - and the covering fabric.

I guess they are all made in China, parts pick and mix from a standard catalogue selection, and a few minor trim tweaks to suit the reseller.

There's probably quite a few "off-brand" chairs on Amazon for less than half the price, using exactly the same parts.
