Underfloor heating - Timing recommendations
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm after some advice from those who have underfloor heating in their homes.
For some context, we've moved into a house with hot water underfloor heating downstairs controlled in two zones by Heatmiser wireless control panels. The flooring is tiles and the boiler is a Vaillant Ecotec combi. Upstairs is traditional radiators with towel rails in the bathrooms; these are controlled by a Hive system.
This is our first winter in the house, so I'm after some recommendations from those in the know on the best way to programme the times for the underfloor heating. It takes a few hours to heat the floor, which then retains its heat quite well, therefore, am I best in effectively leaving the UFH on the whole time (maybe setting back lower overnight), so the boiler just tops it up, rather than always heating from stone cold? Or, do I treat more like radiators and only switch on for a few hours in the morning and evening?
Any advice welcome. What do you do?
Thanks

Leave the under floor heating on all the time with a background temperature of around 18 degrees and then move it up during the day to the temperature required. Leave it on the background temperature overnight. Letting it go cold and heating from cold is not efficient so quite different to using a house just of standard radiators
