We have a Infinite Prime wireless system that was installed 10-15 years back. The usual motion sensors along with door sensors. It was also linked to our detached garage, both the main up and over door and side door.

A few parts of the system no longer work and it's time to replace.

We want to be able to use and a conventional alarm when going out but also night alarm when asleep so any sensor broken on ground floor is instant alarm.

We have a Ring Home plan in place for front doorbell and also two external cameras.

Would people recommend a Ring alarm system?

If not why not? What should we consider

Thanks

interested in this too - we have a Visonic one that now just has got to a point that it can not be trusted.

Sets alright then when we are out it just goes off - cannot find the issue. So I think we need to replace as well.

Watching with interest

My mother had a AJAX system installed a few months ago, been flawless since. All wireless and long battery life.

We had ours changed to a Texecom system. Can’t fault it.

We also had an AJAX installed recently and it's been great. Good app for changing things too.

AJAX here, based on comments here and from a couple of mates and other forums.

Works great, easy to use which coming from someone who's terrible at this type of thing is great as it's actually very complicated - but only if you want it to be iykwim. Basically it all makes sense hehe

I have one outdoor sensor that seems to play up now and then setting the alarm off but im fairly sure it's large birds landing or taking off next to it.

Texecom here as well, app update is an improvement in response time if nothing else. Had no issues at all.

I agree about the app, the only thing it now doesn’t do is log in with Face ID! Why take that away?

Also looking at this as we have started to take more regular holidays now into retirement.
Do these alarms sound if a break in occurs, or do they call the police or a security company?
I may be showing my age that calling the police would work ?

Last week when we were away we watched the dustman, postman and a few leaflet drop off people at our house. We have some basic internet enabled outside cameras.
We sat there thinking what would we do if it was a bloke with a van smashing our door down ?

They can do both, as well alerting you via the app.

Monitoring service is obvs additional cost.

The Ajax system can be set up to do that but tbh I haven't bothered. The alarm is to alert me and my dog. My dog sounds and looks the part some I hope thats enough.

I don't think the police are interested in your house being broken into tbh. Maybe they are, feels like they aren't. Even if they are whatever it is they want to steal will be gone before the rule enforcers arrive.
