Thanks for reading. I have a Vileroy & Boch sink in my ensuite bathroom which has a small (half) pedestal underneath which is held up with what are the worlds most expensive cable ties!

I managed to snap one of these after requiring access to the U bend to unblock the sink. New cable ties arrived from V&B, but i am stuck in this state:

As an engineer (albeit Electronics) i have no clue how to make this sit right? Please can anyone help me? How is this supposed to sit under the sink after being supported by the two cable ties from the back only? What stops the unit from pivoting as it is in the pictures?

I am loosing man points at home......

I don't know the answer but this thread suggests there might be some springs and tensioners involved.

We've a V&B sink on a cabinet, it's got a click clack type plug.

I'd love to now how to remove the top bit, looks like mushroom, so SWMBO can clean underneath it.

Click clack tops usually just unscrew from the mechanism in the actual plughole. Top + seal screw to a brass bit that moves.

Nothing too magic involved.

If it's like most engineered things for plumbers it'll be simple.

I suspect the little blanking plugs in the above photo might be important, just on the basis that they exist at all?

Otherwise it'll be something else you can get to from outside as this seems to be the last part fitted.

Yes that is true, we've two other sinks that do come apart that way, unfortunately this won't to the point I'm scared of breaking a something.

Funnily enough, had the same problem here today. As you say, previous ones just unscrewed but our 'click and clack' type doesn't. First time today to try and give it a clean as it was getting a bit stiff with smells coming up. Managed to remove the u-bend/trap no problem but couldn't actually remove the plug to get to the part between the plughole and trap. Flushed it out with sodium bicarbonate and white vinegar followed by a kettle full of boiling water and hope that sorts it out for a while.

What have you hooked the straps round at the top?

Video here that might help. https://www.bathroomspareparts.co.uk/villeroy--boc...

After a lot of searching it appears that the trap needs removing from underneath, and the plug part can be detached from below.

If I'm correct I need to unscrew the big hexagonal nut but I'm not quite brave enough in case I can't get it back. smile
