I'm trying to work out the best method for under floor heating in our old house.
The room is a soon to be replaced kitchen of around 35sqm with 400mm spaced floor joists over a cellar.
I have a height limit of 60mm from the top of the joists, since there's a patio door opening to consider.
I've seen a few methods of minimising the finished height.
The first is by running the pipes between the joists. The other is using a pre-grooved structural chipboard instead of plywood.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
I intend the final finish to be limestone flooring which is around 18mm thick.
I'll be putting 100mm PIR insulation between the joists.
I'm assuming electric UFH is out due to running costs?
