Sounds fine to me too (we've had loads of ceilings skimmed this year).
I think we've been paying around £250 a day plus materials (he isn't VAT registered) but I usually try to get a few bits done at the same time to make it more efficient (my assumption being that it isn't massively efficient for him or me to just get one small ceiling done at a time)

This year small downstairs toilet (2.0 x 1.0m), bathroom (2.1 x 2m) and a utility room same size as the bathroom and that was £330 inc the vat but he did all of them in two half days split because of prep work one half day and then skimming the next half day.

Exactly this. Local to me I struggle to get people quoting for small jobs, let alone putting in what seems to be a reasonable price.That's reasonable money for a small job. Mond you, he hasn't turned up yet so don't count your chickens just yet.
Small jobs are a complete pain in the arse to get people in and trades say they're quieter than they've ever been!
That’s a decent price OP, unless the guy starts stupidly early he won’t be finished before lunch time if you include cleaning up time and it may be too late to go to another job. Also if he’s using BlueGrit or similar he may have to make two visits, BleuGrit and the like usually have to left overnight to dry.

Plastering is an horrible job with all the cleaning that goes with it. If a trade turns up most of the time the meter starts at £200.

I think he'll do without readies so for 220 quid I'll take him up on the offer. Now need to get the plumbing plan sorted.
