Turf, turfing and turfage

I've got some new turf in my garden to cover where the old drive was.

I know I need to keep it nicely sodden, but should I leave it for a while before mowing? The rest of the lawn is nearly knee-height now...

New turf needs gentle tretament while it gets established, but there's no reason why you can't mow the high (old) bit.
