Our Hoover washing machine has given up. Before i go on the web and play pick-a-white-goods bingo, has anyone bought or had experience of Ebac washing machines. I'm thinking of the option of buying one from them, because I like the idea of a no quibble warranty for 7 years and it supports British manufacturing.

So, if you have bought, or have experience of them, I would like to hear what your opinion is.

I tried to, sadly the whole process was a bit of a disaster. Delivery dates moved around and machine eventually arrived broken. Replacement would have been another week delay.

Lost the will to live a bit in the face of inevitable domestic disappointment, charged into Currys/PC World with an empty Volvo and took home something they had in stock.

A shame, I'd like to have supported them.

Yes, I bought one and have had it for just under 3 years. My opinion (given its a washing machine; what can I say?!) it cleans my clothes very well (better than the Miele it replaced), it has tons of functions of which I use two, maximum and it has never caused me any issues. Based on this I'd have no hesitation in buying another.

They keep popping up in my ad feeds (must be my age) and I must admit I've been quite impressed with what they're offering (yep, definitely an age thing!) so would certainly be looking at them if/when the time comes. One of the few to accept hot fill if that's of interest/use. It's mostly the UK design and manufacturer that appeals to me though.

They got slated on Which a few years back, they wrote a great letter to Which slating their testing, it was quite entertaining and rather interesting. The boss is a bit of a character, UK manufacturer would be in a better place with more bosses like him.

Am old post, but hey. Ebac got some good reviews for build quality and repairability. For example they don't use sealed drums so the bearings can be replaced, the inside is well laid out and parts are easily available, see this review from an engineer who died repairs: https://youtu.be/c1c470Rzvr8
If the ebac dehumidifiers I've had for years are anything to go by, the washing machines will be great.

I'm here because out current washing machine has increasingly loud bearings and as I understand it is a seal drum, the Ebac as one of the few two-part drum machines appears. Plus as a British mechanical engineer I feel I should support UK design and manufacture.

The dual/hot fill option seams to make sense given we have a 250l hot tank 8ft away, even if that is currently heated with a gas fired boiler.

Sticking point is they are £825-850 vs £400-600 for most other 9-10kg mid spec machines. (Ie AEG/Bosch/LG with time delay etc)

Not as old a post as when it was resurrected in January.....

I bought one a year or 2 ago to replace a Zanussi that had developed amnesia and seemed to forget to carry out steps of the cycle. Sometimes, it would declare the cycle over after 10 minutes....

Anyway, ordered an Ebac dual fill to take advantage of the solar heated water. With the old Zanussi, I used to fill it with hot water through the soap drawer with a bit of hose on the hot tap! biggrin I only needed an 8kg one, but I think they were out of stock and there was some offer on that made the 10 kg one cheaper than the 8 kg one. So sent for that, and it can't be faulted. Great that it has hot fill in these days that just about everyone else only has cold fill. 7 year warranty which I hear if, in the rare event it is needed, is honoured without quibble. As has been mentioned, at ~£800 for a washing machine, its a lot of coin compared to others, but there is likely a fair element of "you get what you pay for".

Very happy with this one so far.

Timely for me, our Bosch (not that cheap and not that old either) had to have the drum replaced about 18mths ago because the bearings were shot. It’s already back to sounding like an aircraft coming into land when it does the final spin…

One issue that comes up from time to time on Trustpilot reviews, which is quite hard to see as most of the reviews relate to dehumidifiers, and its not a very common issue, is that washing comes out dripping wet after a cycle. i.e. it hasn't spun properly. This has not happened very often, if at all here, but on Trustpilot, Ebac's response is that this is due to the "Perfect wash system" and the machine attempting to balance the load before commencing a spin. If it cannot manage to balance it, then it effectively skips the spin step. I think the intention is that you then open the machine, manually distribute the washing to balance, then set it on a spin cycle.

I remember reading on some of Ebacs replies before buying this machine, them saying it was "new legislation" that required this. Can't think why unless its to limit noise nuisance for neighbours who live in close proximity, i.e. flats. The manual says....

and elsewhere suggests that an imbalanced load could arise from, as an example, a single large bath towel. As I always stuff the machine to the gunwhales, I don't think its ever had the chance to be out of balance! smile

Trustpilot reviews have no context as to what caused this - When writing their less than complimentary review, the authors do not elaborate on the conditions. Just moan that the washing was wet. So hard to correlate. But my experience here is that rarely happens if at all - I have seen the chasing lines on the display, indicating its distributing;

With the outermost segments of the 3 digits chasing around the outside. This indicates its "balancing" and psyching itself up for a full on spin. But I don't think its ever failed to spin here.
