We’ve got sliding doors and a very large pivot door supplied by them. They aren t cheap but we’re very pleased with them and the customer service has been very good. The frames on the sliding doors are very narrow.

How's the thermal bridging on these newer metal framed windows and doors?
My only experience was about 15 years ago when a friend installed them - and spent winter with small pools of condensation gathering on the floor because the panes were reasonably modern/warm and the frames just cold...

No problem at all with thermal bridging/condensation on the Maxlight doors. My only experience was about 15 years ago when a friend installed them - and spent winter with small pools of condensation gathering on the floor because the panes were reasonably modern/warm and the frames just cold...
Got a few more quotes in now. First quote seems to be the cheapest, the most expensive is getting close to the cost of the front door, expect this is single glazed, interior door with no locks.
Going to get a final quote from the guys who installed our exterior glazing. They don't officially do 'Crittal' styles but do offer Smart alum frames/doors, so will see if they can come up a design close enough for cheaper.
No idea why the Crittal design is so expensive, might well have to just accept the cost if that's the design we really want.

^We have these at present, I sent the picture over to one of the online companies to show them the frame etc, and they initially got confused and thought I had sent them an Ai generated image to a design I wanted them to copy
It's the Mrs who want them changed to real metal Crittal style, they are inline with front door and you see them the minute you open the front.....It's the final design 'Gift' from the architect, simple to draw on the design, looks great.......and who cares about the cost as they are paid for their drawings and aren't the one paying to make the drawings real
.
As painful as the costs, I do think it will complete the visual design of the house.....and I cannot see the Mrs settling for the Smart Alu option, as the Smart options are essentially commercial/industry focused products.

Funny isn't it. The house where I grew up was fitted throughout with Crittall windows; they were pretty much standard issue in the 40s and 50s. When the house was sold 40 years later the new owner threw them all away and replaced them with hideous white plastic ones. And now they look s
t whilst Crittall windows are in demand and expensive! We got windows and patio doors from a company supplying this range.
