ive ordered some bac50 as an alternate to the spray n leave diy store sprays

i have some light green effect to my fence panels and the usual winter grot on footpaths

what ratios do you recommend ? best i can come up with it to try 20-1

will be spraying it on if that matters

I use a 20 liter backpack for spraying and reckon I’ll be around 30-40/1 ratio. I’ve probably gone to 20/1 a few times if I’m at the end of a container but couldn’t say I’ve noticed a difference.

yeah see everything i read says different rations

so at 30 odd to 1 how long would i expect the fence to be free of any green ? i thought id try one as a test before doing everything

Sounds like a cop out answer but it really depends on the location and direction the fence panels are facing, whether they get the sun or whether they stay damp. The BAC50 kills stuff but doesn’t change the conditions that grew stuff in the 1st place. . I did my main fence between me and a neighbor in the summer and last did it a couple of years ago. Other hand, I ve got to spray some paths a couple of times a year to keep on top of things.

Couple of days. Again, the faster it’s growing the quicker it dies off.

I would say 1:20 is a good fairly strong solution to try.

That may be because the concentration in different products is different. What counts is grams of active ingredient per m2, so you dilute to achieve that.

yeah i dunno , i thought the 50 refers to the strength

sales blurb says 1:8 or can be as much as 1:40 but no mention of for what or where

i will test a panel at 1:30 ish and see if it clean up over a few days

I use 1:30 ish. Don't measure it accurately as I can't be arsed.

This ratio when poured on my hard surfaces removes the green within hours, and I do this once a year around the end of March, when the surfaces are dry and going to stay dry for a day or 2. By mid winter the surfaces are green again.

Think I read this stuff is now prohibited on moss.

We’ve quite a heavy covering in areas of our tarmac yard. If using as mixed for green algae, would this harm moss if accidentally spilt or sprayed?

It does take longer though. a few days as opposed to hours for algae.

Why do you think it is banned on moss? Who would know you used it on moss, and even if questioned just tell them its water.

I just did my crazy paving patio which was very green and mossy and went 1/8. Sure I could have got away with much weaker but seized the only dry day in weeks so thought I'd hit it hard. Looking a million times better within a few days
